How to use it

2. Wait for the test to complete.
3. Review your estimated download speed.

• Comparing rough speed readings across different times of day.

Good to know

Browser-based speed tests give a reasonable estimate but are affected by server load, other devices on your network, and browser overhead, so results can vary somewhat between runs — for a definitive diagnosis of ISP performance issues, a dedicated speed test service run at different times of day gives a more complete picture.

Internet speed tests measure the connection at a specific moment through a specific path to a specific test server, which means results can vary meaningfully depending on network congestion, server location, and even what else is happening on your local network at the time of the test — running a test a few times across different times of day gives a more representative picture than any single result.
